Leadership Development

At Fuqua, there are ample opportunities for students to exercise their leadership and engage in more advanced leadership development experiences (the MBAA, student clubs, orientation team, and fellowships such as executive fellows, admissions fellows, career management fellows).

Although COLE impacts every single Daytime MBA student through the End-to-End Leadership Experience, it also offers specific programs for students to deepen their leadership knowledge, in addition to the COLE Leadership Fellows Program. These programs that were incubated by COLE include:

  • Leadership Engagement and Discussion Series (LEADS): LEADS is a student-run program that provides students additional opportunities to build their practical leadership skills through small group discussions lead by trained FY and SY students. Students meet in small groups of 6-8 over the course of 8-sessions with the goal of enhancing their own self-awareness, articulating a leadership style, and building their leadership skill set. This series is designed to fuel student interest in leadership and continue to solidify the leadership language and culture at Fuqua.
    • 2020-2021 LEADS Speaker Series
      • Sue Gordon (5th Principal Deputy Director of National intelligence), shares her insights about how the next generation of leaders may thoughtfully prepare for their imminent leadership journey.
      • General Martin Dempsey (18th Chair of JCOS), shares how to lead in a crisis and turn disruption into destiny. He also highlights the antidote to overcoming fear during the time of COVID-19.
  • First Year and Second Year Daytime MBA Capstone Experiences: A annual event designed and led by our COLE Leadership Fellows as part of Fuqua’s End-to-End leadership experience.  For First Years, it’s an opportunity to reflect on their time at Fuqua so far and think about how to make the most of the summer and second year from a career, leadership, and personal development perspective. For the Second Years, it’s an opportunity to reflect on their Fuqua journey, celebrate accomplishments and relationships, and think about how to leverage their two-year experience in the years to come.
