Panel 2 640x350Housed at one of the world’s leading business schools—Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business—EDGE supports curricular, extracurricular, and research programs at the intersection of business, energy, and environmental issues. There are many opportunities for executives and corporations to engage with our faculty and students. We invite you to join us in any or all of the ways listed below.

EDGE Advisory Board

EDGE’s most comprehensive partnerships come through our relationships with the senior leaders who make up the EDGE Advisory Board. This group is designed to create close working relationships between leading business practitioners, academics, students, and thought leaders to create new knowledge and solutions to energy and sustainability challenges. Board members benefit from peer-to-peer collaboration with each other and with Duke faculty. They also take advantage of opportunities to engage our students and faculty throughout the year for joint research, recruiting, consulting projects, events, and more. Participation in the EDGE Advisory Board is by invitation only. To learn more or request an invitation to this group, contact EDGE executive director Dan Vermeer.

Speaking Opportunities

One of the most valuable education opportunities for our students is learning directly from executives. Throughout the academic year, we bring executives to campus as speakers for conferences, extracurricular events, and academic courses like the EDGE Seminar on Energy & Environment, in which senior leaders share insights on industry trends. If you, or another executive from your organization, would be interested in speaking on campus, please contact EDGE managing director Katie Kross for a conversation about this year’s opportunities.

Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum (FCCP) Projects

Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum projects are real-world consulting assignments in which teams of Fuqua MBA students work with businesses and nonprofit organizations. Each year, EDGE facilitates 8+ projects in the FCCP program that address energy and/or environmental business issues. The cycle begins with client project proposals due in September each year, and students work on projects during the following spring semester. If you are interested in discussing an FCCP project or learning more, contact Dan Vermeer.

MBA Recruiting

Our programs prepare graduates for leadership careers in the energy sector, but also prepare MBAs going into any industry to understand how energy, climate, and sustainability issues affect business strategy. Our graduates go on to work in many different industries—including renewable energy developers, electric utilities, energy super-majors, consulting, investment banking, finance, climate tech startups, VC, apparel, food & ag, and consumer goods. We welcome a conversation about recruiting options with your organization. To discuss options, contact Carol Rosenfeld, sector director in the Fuqua Career Management Center.

Event Sponsorship

Sponsoring events on campus is a key way to build your company’s brand with the nearly 900 MBAs who attend Fuqua, as well as executives, investors, and entrepreneurs from beyond the university. Two flagship annual conferences—the Duke University Energy Conference in the Fall and the Sustainable Business & Social Impact Conference in the Spring—each attract more than 400 attendees. If you would like to discuss the opportunities and benefits of sponsoring events, please contact Katie Kross.
