Duke Magazine, Featuring CASE

In the fifteen years since Greg Dees and Beth Anderson founded CASE, the center has educated thousands of students and worked with thousands of nonprofits, for-profits, government agencies, funders, impact investors, and researchers to develop and share best practices and tools.

For its Fall 2017 edition, Duke Magazine dedicated its insert to the work of our award-winning center, highlighting stories and reflections from current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and other industry thought leaders.  Take a look at this eight-page feature to learn interesting facts such as:

  1. Which CASE faculty member’s work in impact investing traces back to Sesame Street? (Hint: She was also named one of the top twenty women in the U.S. working in philanthropy in 2014.)
  2. Which social impact icon said “I don’t think there’s been a more important academic institution for social entrepreneurship than CASE”?
  3. How much funding has CASE provided in loan assistance to alumni working for nonprofits and government agencies?
  4. How many Ashoka Innovation Awards has CASE won?
  5. What is the name of CASE’s new online training series for social entrepreneurs looking to raise impact capital?
  6. Which Fuquan said “CASE has been one of the crown jewels in the business school”?
  7. Which social impact organization, led by alumnus Monty Montoya MBA ’03, is working toward eliminating corneal blindness worldwide by 2040?
  8. Which Fuqua alumna has helped establish and expand the impact of the Emily K Center – and was able to do so because of support through CASE’s Loan Assistance Program?

We hope you will enjoy reading this series of articles as much as we enjoyed the process of bringing them together!
