Zach is originally from San Diego, CA, and earned his undergraduate degree in Organizational Psychology with a minor in Community Action and Social Change from the University of Michigan. His prior work experience spans both the private and social sectors. In the private sector, Zach grew up working in his family’s grocery stores and later returned to lead the business through the COVID-19 pandemic. His social sector experience includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica for two and a half years, where he lived in a rural indigenous community and collaborated with local leaders to address complex social challenges facing youth.
Zach is currently pursuing his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, with a certificate in International Development Policy from the Sanford School of Public Policy. He is passionate about exploring innovative approaches to social entrepreneurship and impact-driven business models, particularly in Latin America. This summer, he interned with Ashoka in Mexico City, working with their Social Ecosystem team to explore systems change and create large-scale social impact by addressing root causes of societal issues. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Zach is an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoys hiking, backpacking, and spending time with his dog, Kona.
