On April 12-13, Duke MEM/MBA and MF/MBA dual degree alumni returned for a special weekend of reunion activities. Alumni reconnected with faculty and staff, participated in career conversations, heard campus updates from leaders in the Nicholas School and Duke Office of Climate & Sustainability, joined current MEM/MBA students for a picnic in Duke Forest, and of course, caught up with classmates and old friends.
Affectionately referred to as “Membas”, these alumni graduated with two Masters degrees–either a Master of Environmental Management or a Master of Forestry from Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment, and an MBA from either Duke’s Fuqua School of Business or UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Most completed the two degrees in a compressed, 3-year schedule.
The MF/MBA and MEM/MBA degree option dates back to at least 1980 (earlier records are hard to pin down), with a student or two each year for many years. The program began to grow in earnest in 2010, when changes made the program more seamless and structured, and enrollment increased to about 10-15 students per year. All told, there are about 250 alumni of the program and 52 total current students.
A few favorite photos from Reunion weekend are included below. Alumni are also invited to connect on the Duke University MEM/MBA Students & Alumni group on LinkedIn.
