Sector Director for Social Impact & Sustainability Careers
Sandra is the Sector Director for Social Impact & Sustainability Careers in the Fuqua Career Management Center. She works closely with students, employers, alumni, faculty, staff, and others to envision, build, and strengthen career support broadly within the Fuqua student population. Sandra helps develop an extensive portfolio of social impact and sustainability activities, including student counseling, development of resources/toolkits, and preparation for student success in a competitive job market and global workplace. She also develops partnerships with organizations and provides channels for recruitment and engagement opportunities with students.
Before joining Fuqua, Sandra served as the primary liaison to local nonprofits and government organizations in a mission-critical role to forge purposeful partnerships between campus and community at Duke Community Affairs. There she also managed the Community Fund Grants including a focus on Housing, Education, Environment & Sustainability, and Food Access. Previously, Sandra was an Assistant Director at the Duke University Career Center where she provided career advice to undergraduate students, served as the primary expert on education, government, law, and non-profit careers, and supervised the Career Ambassador Team. She currently advises Duke Define America. She holds an M.Ed. in School Counseling from UNC Chapel Hill and an MA in Latin American Studies from Vanderbilt University.
