John is a dual degree candidate at Fuqua and the Nicholas School of the Environment, with additional studies at the School of Law and the Sanford School of Public Policy. Born and raised in Red Lion, PA, John holds a B.A. in Political Science from Allegheny College. Prior to Duke, he worked in the environmental nonprofit sector in Austin, TX, focusing on land and water conservation and expanding access to open space. While at Duke, John has focused on climate policy, clean energy, energy finance, and impact investing. He spent the summer working with the North Carolina Clean Energy Fund to lay the foundation for a new private-public partnership focused on expanding access to the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy to low-income communities around the state. Look for a major announcement in the fall of 2024!
As a CASE and CASEi3 Fellow, John is looking forward to deepening his understanding and skills with impact investing while helping to build and support (and be supported by) the community at Fuqua for students with similar values and interests in reimagining capitalism and using business as a force for good – in particular leveraging the private sector to accelerate our response to the climate crisis in ways that further equity and justice for marginalized communities.
