Some great student perspectives in the press recently, read on!
Susan Shell, a first year here at Fuqua, recently blogged on BusinessWeek about her decision to attend Fuqua: MBA Journal: Starting and Ending With Duke.
She said, “While I considered a range of programs with a social enterprise concentration, my search came full circle with Fuqua, which offers everything for which I am looking. Not only will I receive a robust education in social entrepreneurship over the next two years; I’ll also be a member of a well-rounded, collaborative community that will welcome and integrate a “nontraditional” business student.”
Ryan Browning, a Fuqua ’09 alum and Fuqua Peace Corps Fellow, also blogged about his experiences. In “Fellows in the Community,” Ryan talked about the community service project that he undertook while at Fuqua, participating in CASE’s “Fuqua on Board” program.
He said, “As part of this program for developing leadership skills, I sat on the board of a nonprofit as a non-voting member—attending monthly meetings, participating as an adviser, and helping to organize projects and events. … The results of our [work] allowed the board to make more informed decisions to better serve the needs of the community.”
Thanks to Susan and Ryan for sharing their experiences with us!
