Annual Events

Throughout the year, CASE hosts a variety of events for Fuqua students as well as the greater Duke community.  These events provide a great way for students and the community to learn more about social entrepreneurship and social impact.  Some of our regularly scheduled events include:

Day in Durham

Each year as a new class of first year MBA students come to Duke, we want them to learn about the city that they are now calling home, while also beginning to understand how their business skills can be used for social, environmental and economic impact.

Beginning in 2004, CASE and the Fuqua Net Impact Club began hosting Day in Durham – an all-day event in which students hear from an inspiring keynote speaker from the local community and then go in to Durham on a number of treks.  On these treks, students visit important community sites and meet with local leaders across a spectrum of disciplines.  For example, in 2014 more than 200 students met with 20 local organizations tackling issues related to education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, impact investing, social entrepreneurship, and community revitalization.

Since inception, more than 1,700 Duke MBA students have participated in Day in Durham, learning about their local community and being inspired to get involved in Durham and use their business skills for community impact during their time at Fuqua and beyond.
